DALLAS - Lamar Odom has gone from the NBA's "Sixth Man of the Year" with the Lakers to working out with the Mavericks D-League team the Texas Legends.
There have been a lot of chapters to the Odom story. As for the latest, it is known Odom was back in town Wednesday because Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said he talked with him that day. Friday, WFAA has learned he was set to get back on the floor today to workout.
Odom will then resurface Saturday as he is scheduled to join the Mavericks Developmental League team, the Texas Legends in Frisco. In fact, the Mavericks released a statement today that Odom was officially assigned to the Texas Legends.
The Legends will play the Austin Toros at the Dr Pepper Arena at 7 p.m. Saturday. He is also scheduled to join the team in a morning shoot prior to that game.
WFAA was told that his assignment to the Texas Legends was actually Odom's idea, which certainly looks like a positive sign. Odom told the team that he wants to get back to the basics.
