Jason Kidd arrested
We're hearing from Jason Kidd for the first time since his drunk driving arrest on Long Island early Sunday morning.
A mugshot of the former Dallas Mavericks star appears to show a bruise on his cheek.
Newsday quotes court records that reveal Kidd admitted to having a few drinks before he crashed his Cadillac Escalade sport utility vehicle into a utility pole in Water Mill, New York, about 85 miles east of Manhattan.
Newsday also reports that court documents reveal Kidd refused a blood test. Kidd's attorney released a statement calling it an accident. He said the point guard was returning home from a charity event... an event that Kidd had just tweeted photos from.
Kidd pleaded not guilty to a DWI charge and awaits further court proceedings.
Jason Kidd left the Dallas Mavericks just last Thursday, signing a contract with the New York Knicks.
There has been no comment from the Knicks, and the NBA says it is "monitoring" the situation.
