SURPRISE, Arizona — Call it what you want: "Yu-mania" or "Yu-foria," the Texas Rangers' new pitching ace Yu Darvish is trying to serve up as many autographs as he can as spring training gets under way in Arizona.

Fans are doing their best to get in on the ground floor of what could be the next big thing in baseball.

And then there's what you might call "Yu-faux" — a diminutive comedian from Tokyo who is wearing a Rangers uniform with the name "MINIVISH" on the back.

"Everybody says, 'Are you a member of the Texas Rangers?' And I say, 'Yes,'" he told News 8.

Minivish said he hasn't yet met his alter ego. "Maybe he's going to laugh. He's a really tall guy; I'm a really small guy. Look the same, but different... the size is really different."

Minivish is just part of the large contingent of Japanese journalists and other interested parties who are documenting the arrival of Yu Darvish in the U.S.
