ARLINGTON — The Texas Rangers paid big bucks for Japanese pitching superstar Yu Darvish. The 25-year-old right-hander is bringing more to the mound than his arm — he's bringing his celebrity.

"Iron Arm Roaring!"

"Our Ace!"

"Japanese Ace!"

"Go! Go! Let's go Darvish!"

You can hear chants like those and more from fans in Japan when Yu Darvish takes the mound. He stands out in a crowd — not only because he’s 6'-5" inches tall, but he's unique.

"It's really a combination of his strength and his charisma," explained Toshi Maeda, a Tokyo-based freelance journalist.
