DALLAS (AP) — Texas Rangers television play-by-play announcer Dave Barnett says he doesn't remember any of a rambling, incoherent description of game play that has kept him off the air for a week.
Barnett tells The Dallas Morning News that the preliminary diagnosis for what happened June 18 was a "complicated migraine."
Barnett was calling the Rangers' game against San Diego when he said a runner was on "fifth" base after a "botched robbery." He then mentioned a "henchman" before the broadcast went silent for several seconds.
Barnett said Monday that he went to bed without knowing anything was wrong. The next morning, he says he got a call from his wife before seeing his call being discussed on national TV.
It's not clear when Barnett will return to the air.
