One day after the Texas Rangers sealed their second consecutive American League championship, the most valuable player in the ALCS opened his home to News 8.

We caught up with Nelson Cruz, who spent the day, relaxing and watching TV after the pennant-winning celebration.

His parents came from the Dominican Republic nearly 20 days ago and have been to every post-season game. Cruz told us his mom and dad are his biggest fans.

"It means a lot," he said. "When they are here, I think I play better and be around there make me happy — everything's more easy."

Tuesday night on News 8 at 10, we'll talk with the parents of Nelson Cruz about their highs and lows during the baseball playoffs.
