The Texas Rangers announced Thursday that starting pitcher Derek Holland has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, suffering from "left shoulder fatigue."
Taking his place on the roster is right-hander Tanner Scheppers from the team's Triple-A affiliate in Round Rock. Scheppers, a 25-year-old reliever, has a 1-2 record with nine saves and a 3.72 ERA in 25 appearances this season. He will be making his major league debut with the Rangers.
Holland, a left-hander with a 5-4 record this season, won't be eligible to return to the team until June 21.
The Rangers designated left-handed pitcher John Gaub for assignment to make room for Scheppers.
