PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The New York Yankees scored twice in the fifth inning and have taken a 4-2 lead over Philadelphia after six innings of Game 4 as they try to take a 3-1 World Series lead over the Phillies.

Derek Jeter's run-scoring single in the fifth drove in Nick Swisher from second base with the go-ahead run. Swisher opened the inning with a walk and went to second on a Melky Cabrera single. Johnny Damon's bloop single to right drove in Cabrera.

The Yankees' first two batters to face Joe Blanton scored in the first inning at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phils scored single runs in the first and fourth innings off 19-game winner CC Sabathia (suh-BATH'-ee-uh), who's pitching well on three days' rest. He's allowed two runs on six hits, striking out six.

The Phils threatened in the fifth when their first two runners reached base. But Sabathia got Chase Utley to pop out, Ryan Howard to fly out and struck out Jayson Werth for the third out.

Blanton has struck out seven in his six innings, allowing four runs on five hits.

Brett Gardner has taken over in center field for the Yanks in place of Cabrera, who appeared to pull a muscle in his leg running to first base in the sixth inning.
