After many discussions, exchanged emails, and meetings, the WFAA Sports Department has agreed upon and revealed our top eight teams of the decade in our viewing area. While we have put our "Top Eight on Eight" out there, we still want to hear from you! Who makes your cut? Let your voice be heard!  You can vote on the teams below.


A recap of our picks, plus the viewer’s poll will be revealed on November 29th during the Dale Hansen Sports Special. Here are the teams that made our list.

 

1.) 2005 Texas Longhorns Football - Undefeated National Champions - Vince Young scores in final minute to win game

2.) 2006 Dallas Mavericks - Lost in NBA Finals to the Miami Heat

3.) 2006 Southlake Carroll Football- State Champions and Co-National Champions

4.) 2007 Dallas Cowboys- 13-3 record - lost to the NY Giants in the Divisional round - Giant won Super Bowl

5.) 2005 Baylor Women's Basketball- NCAA National Champions

6.) 2000 Dallas Stars- Lost in Stanley Cup Finals to the New Jersey Devils

7.) 2009 TCU Horned Frogs Football- Currently undefeated and sitting in the 4th spot in the BCS standings

8.) 2004 Lancaster Girls Track- Part of a eight straight state titles

• 2007 Dallas Mavericks - Won 67 games - best regular season in team history - lost in 1st round of the playoffs to Golden State

• 2006 Southlake Carroll Football - 16-0 record - Riley Dodge QB - Dodge is sick in the state champ game and vomits at the line of scrimmage and throws a long TD pass on same play - State and Co-National Champions


• 2002 Dallas Lincoln - 40-0 record - Undefeated State and National Champions - led by Chris Bosh


• 2001 Mansfield Girl's Basketball - 36-1 record - won its 3rd out of 4 consecutive State Championships in a row - led by Erin Grant - finished #1 in rivals.com national ranking


• 2007 Rockwall Girl's Basketball - 40-0 record - State Champion - finished 3rd in nation


• 2009 Dallas Ursuline Girl's Soccer - Won its 19th straight State Championship in a row - currently ranked number 1 in the nation


• 2001 Celina Football - 4th straight State Championship - setting state record of 68 consecutive wins


• 2009 Highland Park Girls Swim Team - Won 9th straight State Championship - UIL record


• 2008 Lancaster Girls Track - Won 8th straight State Championship


• 2006 Garland Softball - 33-2 record - 1st of back-to-back State Championships - Beat Keller in 13-inning final


• 2002 Fort Worth Little League - Lost in the 2002 United States semi-final game
