DALLAS, TX - Now that Super Bowl XLV is almost here, former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman is gearing up for the game. He will be the color analyst when FOX broadcasts the game on Sunday.

"Last week the game went to 50 million people for the Championship game and then all of a sudden you're calling game that's reaching 100 plus million," Aikman says. "That certainly gets your attention. You want to do a good job just like when you were playing."

Aikman says he's disappointed that the Cowboys weren't competitive enough to be the host team in Super Bowl XLV.

"No team has ever played in the Super Bowl when they were hosting it," Aikman says. "I know a lot of people were hopeful that that might happen for the Cowboys but whether or not that was realistic, I don't know. I think the big disappointment probably comes from the fact that the team was knocked out so early. It wasn't competitive there at the end of the season."

Aikman says he likes the match up of the two teams, especially at quarterback.

"They both have great play making ability," Aikman says. "I think it's going to be great game. I can't remember a Super Bowl where you had no clear cut favorite going in. I just think it's going to be a heck of a ball game for us."

Aikman and a host of other former Cowboys players have been involved for months to help the Super Bowl host committee get things ready for Super Bowl XLV.

"This will be a great week," Aikman says. "There will be a lot of stuff going on and I think we've got two great teams. We couldn't have asked for a better match up."

As for all the planning, he's glad the final week before the Super Bowl has arrived. "It's been good but there has been a lot of time that has been put into planning and preparation in four plus years and I think the people that come will see that," Aikman says. "I don’t' think anything was overlooked, so from that standpoint, I think we're in pretty good shape.

With the AFC taking over Tarrant County and downtown Fort Worth and the NFC staying in Dallas County, activities have been spread through the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

"I'm not amazed if you know Bill Lively," Aikman says. He's president of the North Texas host committee. If you've spend any time around Bill Lively, then you wouldn't be surprised about anything that we've been able to prepare ourselves for.

And if the weather does get bad for a couple of days, Aikman says he's not worried.

"I think even with inclement weather we can handle that pretty well also," Aikman says.
