SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Yu Darvish's next start has been pushed back two days by the Texas Rangers to give the Japanese right-hander extra rest.
Rangers manager Ron Washington said before Friday night's series opener at San Francisco that the decision had nothing to do with Darvish's last start. Instead, Washington said, he wanted to give Darvish the same kind of rest he has given other starters this season when the team had an off day Monday.
Darvish allowed six runs, six hits and six walks in a 7-1 loss at Oakland on Thursday. He is 7-4 with a 3.72 ERA this season and is scheduled to start again Friday at home against Houston.
Colby Lewis will start Tuesday, Matt Harrison on Wednesday and Scott Feldman on Thursday in the home series against Arizona.
