According to Mike Leach’s contract at Texas Tech, the suspended Red Raiders head coach will receive an $800,000 bonus if he is the coach after 12/31/09.
Earlier this year, Leach and Texas Tech agreed on a new contract that would pay the coach 12.7 million dollars over five years. The contract also included major incentives for reaching a BCS Bowl game and winning the national championship.
Leach is 84-43 as the head coach of the Red Raiders. Including a 7-3 record against Texas A&M and a 2-8 record against the Texas Longhorns.
If Tech terminates Leach’s contract, they would owe him $400,000 for each year left on contract.
