Poll:
Should Josh Brent have been on the sidelines for Sunday's game?

ARLINGTON — The Dallas Cowboys had a #53 decal on their helmets at Sunday's game with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It is the jersey number of teammate Jerry Brown Jr., who was killed in a suspected drunk driving crash last weekend.

The man who was behind the wheel in that fatal crash — Brown's best friend and fellow Cowboys player Josh Brent — was on the Dallas sidelines Sunday. He was in street clothes, and chatted with players and former players like Hall of Famer Rayfield Wright.

Brent is facing an intoxication manslaughter charge. His possible return to the team pending trial has been a hot topic.

Brown's grandmother told News 8 that Brown would not have wanted people to be mad at Josh Brent. Brown's mother told us she forgives Brent, and does not want him to be prosecuted.

On Sunday night, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Brown's mother asked that the team come together to support Brent.

"She knew that Josh loved her son Jerry. She said, 'Jerry would want this.' I will speak for him here, but I'll speak for me, too," Jones said. "We want you to support him. His teammates asked him to come and be down here with him, and that's where we are."
