FORT WORTH -- A benefit concert for a well-loved North Texas sports writer will be held in Fort Worth in September.

The Do It For Durrett Benefit Concert will honor the life of Richard Durrett, who passed away last month at the age of 38. He left behind a wife and two small children, plus a third baby on the way.

Do It For Durrett will be held Sept. 8 at  Billy Bob's Texas, with proceeds going toward the Richard Durrett Family Fund in support of his wife and children.

Besides live music, organizers say they'll be holding a major sports auction which will include memorabilia autographed by Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Romo, Miguel Cabrera and more.

“It’s a wonderful night for a great cause,” Rangers TV personality Emily Jones said. “I can’t believe the musical lineup we’ve been able to put together, and the auction items, too. I think that really speaks to what a great guy Richard was. This is a great way for people to support him and his family.”

Tickets go on sale July 11 at 10 a.m. They cost $20 in advance and $30 at the door. VIP tickets for $100 will also be for  sale. Go here for more information.
