The Dallas Cowboys are giving up on backup quarterback Kyle Orton.

Orton apparently doesn't want to play anymore, so the Cowboys are releasing him.

But here's my favorite part: Orton gets to keep his signing bonus — an extra $3 million or so — for not playing.

And the Cowboys take a $3 million hit for dead money on the salary cap.

What genius wrote that deal?

So it's Tony Romo and Brandon Weeden going into the 2014 NFL campaign, and how can that not work?
