SHOTS ON GOAL

Hidden blunder: Jeff Agoos is getting blamed for South Korea's goal. But wait! Didn't that long service drop at the edge of the six-yard box? That is the goalkeeper's ball! Brad Friedel was spectacular all day, but was tentative there and more culpable than Agoos.

Top forward: Pauleta collected the rare World Cup hat trick as a suddenly wide-awake Portugal crushed Poland, 4-0. Germany's Miroslav Klose has the tournament's only other hat trick.

NAFTA special: As the United States and Mexico push forward, chances increase that the regional rivals will clash in the second round. The winners and runners-up from their groups meet in the round of 16.

Best case, viewing wise: If they finish first in Group D, the Americans would meet the Group G runner-up. It also would make local fans happy. They would play at the more manageable time of 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. Finishing second, the Americans would play at 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Matters to watch: Yellow card accumulation now becomes meaningful; two yellow cards mandate a one-game suspension. U.S. players currently carrying yellow cards: DaMarcus Beasley, Jeff Agoos and Frankie Hejduk.

GOLAZO!

Lots of Cup watchers wondered if the Tunisians even had a goal in them. Boom! Raouf Bouzaiene strikes a marvelous, bending free kick over Belgium's wall and, just like that, Tunisia remains alive following a 1-1 draw.
