THE COLONY - On Monday night, the Ryans' house in The Colony was full of thousands and thousands of bees.

Tuesday night, most of them are gone, and the family is happy because they didn't have to kill them.

The Ryans first called an exterminator who refused to remove the bees. Then, a fellow church member told them about a beekeeper.

Randy McGill, of Collinsville, came out and then suited up, climbed a ladder and vacuumed the bees into a homemade bee collection box. McGill sucked up most of the bees.

"There will be a few stragglers," he said. "But, I'm sure I got all of them because I looked and there were no holes for the bees to go up into."

The Ryans said they are ecstatic, but not just because they can use their front door again.

"I feel great," said Rusty Ryan. "And I feel especially great because we're not having to kill them."

The beekeeper hopes to put the bees to work right away, making honey in a hive. He said it's an example of how one person's dilemma can became another person's delight.
