SOUTHEAST DALLAS – Until they became bargains for bidders over the weekend at a foreclosure auction, many houses in the Hacienda del Sol neighborhood sat empty.

Four brand new houses on Galicia Lane and four on Catalonia Drive sold for prices between $63,000 and $84,000, said Rick Weinberg, with REDC, the firm that auctioned them.

The costs were half or less of their tax-appraised value, according to Dallas Central Appraisal District.

Hacienda del Sol, a development of 32 houses built in 2006, is south of Highway 175 near I-20 close to Balch Springs. It’s a rare North Texas subdivision hit hard by the housing slump.

Combined, the eight houses generated $611,375.

Below is the breakdown of each home

1144 Galicia Lane sold for $84,000.

1148 Galicia Lane sold for $73,500.

1152 Galicia Lane sold for $84,000.

1208 Galicia Lane sold for $68,250.

8904 Catalonia Drive sold for $78,500.

8908 Catalonia Drive sold for $81,375.

8912 Catalonia Drive sold for $78,750.

8916 Catalonia Drive sold for $63,000.

The starting bid for some of the houses was $1,000.
