FORT WORTH — A police officer shot a suspect in Fort Worth Tuesday morning.

Police received a 911 call about a prowler in the area of Grand Avenue and Northside Drive around 10:30. a.m.

An officer who arrived on the scene saw a man in the alley off the 1400 block of Grand Avenue. Police said the man pulled out a gun and pointed it at the officer.

The officer shot the suspect twice — in the arm and the groin.

"It is possible [the suspect] is responsible for burglaries in the area," said Fort Worth police spokesman Sgt. Pedro Criado. "He was knocking on doors in the neighborhood. Just walking up and down the alley."

The prowler had been spotted in the area on Monday. There have been several burglaries in the area.

The suspect was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for treatment. He has not been named.

The officer involved in the shooting is 27-year veteran of the police force Paul Metz. He is on administrative leave pending investigation into the incident.
