Rain possible in Dallas-Fort Worth area

Rain was possible across parts of Texas on Monday, along with hot conditions, according to National Weather Service forecasts.

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms was forecast in the Dallas-Fort Worth area under mostly cloudy skies with a high near 92. The low should fall to around 73 on Monday night.

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms was predicted in the Houston area under mostly cloudy skies with a high near 93. The low should drop to around 76 under mostly cloudy skies.

Sunny skies and hot conditions were expected in the Rio Grande Valley with a high near 99 in Brownsville and heat index values as high as 111. South-southeast winds should be between 10 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. The low should drop to around 80.

Partly sunny skies were expected on the South Plains with a high near 88 degrees in Lubbock and southeast winds between 5 and 10 mph. The low should fall to around 68 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
