Tarrant County soldier dies in Afghanistan accident

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon reports Tuesday that two soldiers with Texas ties have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A 20-year-old soldier from suburban Fort Worth was killed in a vehicle rollover while serving in Afghanistan.

Army Pfc. Peter K. Cross of Saginaw died Friday at Combat Outpost Carwile, Afghanistan, of injuries from the rollover. He served with the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.

The military said a 28-year-old Fort Hood soldier from Michigan died from a roadside bombing in Iraq.

Army Sgt. Timothy A. David of Gladwin, Mich., died Sunday in Baghdad of wounds suffered from the blast in Sadr City, Iraq. He served with the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood.
