CORINTH — Kimberly Boggs, the woman who was shot in the face at a Corinth park, is now recovering at home.

The shooting was random and the disturbing violent act was witnessed by the victim's two young children.

Boggs would come to the park about twice a week; her home is just a few blocks away.

She is now at home with her family. She has to eat through a feeding tube for about another week.

After three days in the hospital, Boggs came home to her husband and the tiny blessings in her life — her four -year-old son and a baby girl.

Kimberly Boggs survived being shot in the face.

"We wanted her home so we could take care of her, and she wanted to be with her baby," said Boggs' sister, Janet Scott.

For the 36-year-old mother, an outing at Fairview Park in Corinth with her children, ended with a single bullet.

Investigators say a man she has never met came up to her, pulled out a gun and shot her in the face.

"It went in on one cheek, up top and came out the other side," Scott said. "It didn't hurt anything, but it did break her jaw."

"I think she is still in shock. She's been very quiet and not talking about it much," Scott added.

Officers arrested William Gilmore in connection with the shooting. Investigators searched his car, a truck and a vacant house he was staying in. According to the arrest affidavit, they found several weapons and 700 rounds of ammunition.

The report also states that Gilmore gave police tapes, and on one of them he talks about "stranger-to-stranger" murder.

"We want him to pay for what he did," Scott said.

But for the victim's sister, the shooting has renewed her family's bond and faith.

"I hate to call it 'luck.' God was beside her that day, helped her through everything she did," Scott said .

Gilmore is in the Denton County Jail facing attempted murder charges. His bond is set at $750,000.
