COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- A mutilated kitten had surgery in College Station to remove its rear leg after part of it was twisted off in an alleged attack by two boys.
Staffers at Aggieland Animal Health Center & Pet Resort say the 3-month-old kitten, nicknamed Emma, is available for adoption. Veterinarians on Wednesday did surgery on the cat.
Center spokeswoman Gwendolyn Inocencio says the kitten was dropped off June 13 by a couple who say they rescued the cat from two 10-year-old boys at a trailer park in Hearne.
Inocencio says the animal's leg was twisted off below the knee and it was amazing that the cat survived.
The center filed an animal abuse and neglect report with Hearne police.
