Southlake teen dead after hotel swim

FORT WORTH — Fort Worth police are investigating the death of a Southlake teen at the new Omni Hotel downtown.
Officers arrived at the hotel in the 1300 block of Houston Street just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday. They were met by a MedStar ambulance crew, who told them they were taking a 17-year-old to the hospital.
Witnesses told police they pulled the victim from under the water after he had been swimming in the hotel's third-floor pool.
The teen, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as Winston Ward, was pronounced dead at Texas Health Fort Worth Hospital.
The cause of death has not been determined. Homicide detectives are reviewing the case.
