THE COLONY — This week we've launched News 8 Daybreak's Summer Survival Guide, which spotlights activities close to home your family can enjoy at little or no cost.

Over the weekend, Daybreak anchor Chris Flanagan took his family to Hawaiian Falls, a water park in The Colony just off Highway 121. They had a blast!

Hawaiian Falls has everything for little kids to big kids. There are plenty of splash fountains and the wave pool is totally cool.

It's a zero pool entry, so even little, little ones are okay with mom and dad. You can even body surf — or at least try. The park was clean, and there were plenty of lifeguards on duty.

Chris' two kids — who are five and seven years old — give it two thumbs-up.

Hawaiian Falls is open weekdays and Saturdays starting at 10:30 a.m. The park closes at 7 p.m. on weekday nights except Wednesday, when it closes at 5:30. Sunday hours are noon until 7 p.m.

Admission is $18.99 for adults (anyone over 48 inches tall) and $13.99 for everyone else. Guests are permitted to bring coolers.
