FORT WORTH — More schools and school districts are closed this week in an effort to head off the spread of swine flu.

The Plano ISD closed Barron Early Childhood School and Sigler Elementary for the next two weeks, and the doors of Wilson Middle School are closed to students until May 18.

Bridgeport, Cleburne and Denton ISDs have closed all schools for the entire week, as has the Fort Worth ISD.

Richardson's Canyon Creek Elementary will not reopen until Wednesday. It had originally been scheduled to resume classes today.

And all but two schools in Wise County have decided to shut down. Chico High School and Chico Middle School are the only two campuses still open. District officials were meeting Monday afternoon to determine whether their status will be changed.

Tarrant County health officials announced 13 new probable cases of swine flu Monday; that brings the total number of probable cases to 62 within the a 33-county region of North Texas as of noon.

The totals include a five-year-old Arlington girl; a 24-year-old Bedford woman; an eight-year-old Fort Worth boy; and an 11-year-old Benbrook girl.

The number of confrimed cases from North Texas stands at 14, including six in Fort Worth, two in Euless and eight in the surrounding counties.

Those numbers are still very fluid, and Tarrant County Public Health scheduled a news briefing at 3 p.m. Monday to discuss the latest figures, which are likely to change.
