Cleburne and Johnson County issue swine flu update

04:27 PM CDT on Thursday, April 30, 2009

WFAA-TV staff reports

Two additional swine flu cases are going to state for testing, the joint Cleburne City, Cleburne School District and Johnson County Swine Flu Committee said Thursday.

Schools will remain closed in Cleburne through Friday, officials said.

Keene ISD is to stop all after school activities.

The group will hold another meeting on Friday.

Cleburne school superintendent, Dr. Ronny Beard, says cleaning of the schools, as prescribed by health officials, is on schedule and should be complete by tomorrow.

He said a decision on keeping schools closed past Friday will not be made until the school district knows the final test results on the four high school students who may have swine flu.

Cleburne police are reporting no major problems with students who are out of school congregating around town.

"We are still at a critical time in Cleburne. Right now things are positive, but we still need to see how many cases are being advanced to the CDC," Cleburne's mayor Ted Reynolds said.
