INTERACTIVE MAP: The boil notice applies to Red Oak residents on the west side of Interstate 35E.

RED OAK — Hundreds of Red Oak residents are being asked to boil their tap water until further notice.

The warning applies to homeowners and businesses on the west side of Interstate 35E in this Ellis County community. A water main break on a pipeline from Glenn Heights resulted in low water pressure. That, in turn, can lead to the introduction of bacteria or harmful microbes in the water supply.

To ensure safety, tap water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you can purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

Residents will be notified when the water supply problems are rectified.
