Thousands of Dallas-Fort Worth residents remained without power this morning, a day after cold weather caused rain to freeze on tree limbs and power lines.

Oncor crews worked to restore power to the remaining 8,000 homes and businesses who were left in the dark from Monday's icy weather, said Oncor spokeswoman Megan Wright. It was unclear when power would be restored.

The outages, which peaked at 48,000 Monday night, were spread across the entire region, she said.

Expect cloudy skies and possibly lingering rain this morning with temperatures in the upper 30s.

The weather will warm up as storms move out by 9 a.m., said Joe Harris, a National Weather Service meteorologist. The high is expected at 55 degrees.

"It'll be a nice day," he said.

The warming trend should continue through the week, and temperatures should be around 70 degrees by Friday.
