Worker hurt at oil rig in Grand Prairie

GRAND PRAIRIE — A man was seriously injured at a Grand Prairie oil rig Friday morning after he was struck by a chain, police dispatchers said.

The man, whom authorities declined to identify, was working on a rig near the intersection of Mirabella Boulevard and Ragland Road near Joe Pool Lake when the chain fell and struck him, dispatchers said.

After being helped down, he was transported to a local hospital.

Local officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration could not be reached for comment. No other information was immediately available.
