Are you ready for digital TV?

The digital TV transition is now less than 80 days away.

On February 17, all full-power broadcast television stations in the United States — including Channel 8 — are required to turn off their analog transmitters as the final step in a switch to the all-digital format.

WFAA has scheduled a test during our 6 o'clock newscast Monday evening to help you determine whether you are ready for the change. The same test will air on Good Morning Texas at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

We will also have technicians standing by at a phone bank on both days to answer questions from viewers.

If you get your local TV programs from cable or a satellite service, you will not be affected by the digital switch. But if you receive Channel 8 and the other local stations off the air using an indoor or an outdoor antenna, you'll want to take the test.

If your TV set "flunks," there are several easy ways to make sure that you can continue to watch free local TV. Check the links to the right for additional information.
