CARROLLTON - Three teens were able to pull two children from a burning apartment late Thursday afternoon.

All five children were rushed to a nearby hospital from the scene of the two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Park Avenue in Carrollton.

Two teens, ages 14 and 15, were unable to reach the younger children, ages two and four, from inside one of the burning apartments. The two teens escaped the apartment and went to a side window, which was where they teamed up with another teen to break the window and pull the two children to safety.

"Very brave, very dangerous," said Fire Chief Gary Nesbitt, Carrollton Fire Department. "They did what they had to do to save the two and four-year-old."

"I hope that is something that we had some part in early in their lives," Nesbitt said of the fire training the department gives in local schools.

Two units were destroyed by fire damage and two more had smoke damage.

All five children suffered smoke inhalation, but were reported to have no burns and be in good condition.

There has been no word yet on how the fire was started.
