ARLINGTON — An Arlington resident fatally shot a masked intruder inside a home, and police were searching for a second masked man, authorities said.

According to police, two suspected robbers dragged two adults into the home in the 900 block of Carthage Way at about 10:30 p.m. Monday.

An intruder hit one of the adults in the head with a gun, causing it to discharge. The suspected robbers then fired twice into the floor.

The homeowner, who was upstairs, heard the gunshots, grabbed a weapon and shot an intruder on the staircase, killing him, said Arlington police Lt. Blake Miller.

Officers arrived to find a dead man wearing a ski mask. Tarrant County medical examiner’s officer expected to release his identity later on Tuesday.

A second person also wearing a ski mask fled the scene, police said. That person was more than 6 feet tall and wearing blue jeans, purple gloves and a white sweater with crowns.

Arlington police said it would not release the homeowner's identity since the second intruder remained at-large. A 13-year-old was also home at the time of the shooting, but was not injured.
