FedEx said the current turmoil on Wall Street had no impact on the layoffs.

FedEx Office is laying off about 100 employees at its Dallas headquarters, as well as about 100 more nationwide, as part of an effort to restructure and accelerate its transition to online services, the company said Friday.

FedEx Office — formerly FedEx Kinko’s — is a subsidiary of shipping giant FedEx Corp.

The overall company has about 6,000 employees in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including about 1,900 who work for the FedEx Office division.

Roughly 1,300 people work at the Office headquarters.

FedEx Office has 1,800 stores across the country, and about 20 of those stores are being closed.

Brian Philips, president and chief executive officer of the Office division, said the current turmoil on Wall Street had no impact on the layoffs or restructuring plans.

“We’ve been working our go-forward plan for some time,” he said in an interview.

“With as volatile as the market is, with the price of fuel ebbing and flowing, that’s been noise in the background for us. We know what we need to do here.”

Employees who are being laid off will receive two months’ pay, an additional payment based on the length of their employment, short-term COBRA medical coverage and outplacement counseling.

Mr. Philips said FedEx is also trying to place as many of the affected employees in other corporate divisions as possible.
