Chance of rain in D-FW area forecast

Temperatures in the lower 90s were expected across most of the state Monday with rain possible in several locations.

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms was forecast after 1 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth. Under mostly cloudy skies, the high should climb near 90 degrees. South winds should be around 10 mph. The low should fall to around 71.

Similar conditions were predicted around Houston. Forecaster say the area should see a high near 91 degrees, heat index values climbing as high as 101 and a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The low should fall to around 74.

Mostly cloudy skies were expected in the Rio Grande Valley, with a high near 92 in Brownsville and heat index values as high as 103. The low should fall to around 77 under partly cloudy skies.

A 20 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms was expected in the Texas Panhandle. Conditions should be windy with a north-northwest wind of 10 to 15 mph, increasing to between 20 and 25 mph. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. The low temperature should fall to around 53 degrees on Sunday night.
