Only married a month, an Irving couple was killed in a crash that involved a suspected drunk driver in Dallas Sunday night.

The driver, 22-year-old Uriel Palacios, has a history of drinking and driving, and also of running from police.

Palacios has two DWI convictions and two pending felony DWI cases. The Dallas Sheriff's Office said when they pulled him over for a suspected DWI early Monday morning, he sped off in his SUV with a female in his passenger seat. His vehicle then hit two other SUVs as he exited Mockingbird Lane and Central Expressway.

"Two vehicles caught fire, two people were ejected [and] I mean this whole area is a debris field," said Kimberlee Leach, with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

Five people in one of SUVs all survived. But German and Erika Clouet, who were in the other SUV, died in the fiery crash. Their family told News 8 the couple was just married in July. The family said the young couple attended a cousin's birthday party on Sunday and then went to the movies just before the accident.

"She was so happy," said Lilia Zendenjo, who has two children enrolled at the school Mrs. Clouet's works as a teacher. "You could tell by her face that she was so happy that she was getting married."

This would have been Mrs. Clouet's second year as a second grade teacher at Keyes Elementary in Irving.

"She would always talk about her students [and] how much she loved the students, how much she would like for them to all come everyday," Zendenjo said.

Leach said the Palacios will be charged with intoxication manslaughter if he survives.
