News 8 has obtained a copy of an audit of the DART transit agency's employee activity fund and the findings are not good.

Auditors found evidence of sloppy accounting and are recommending the DART's Employee Activity Fund be overhauled.

The problems surfaced when a jeweler doing business through the activity fund said he has been shorted $60,000.

Auditors verified the shortage and are recommending tighter budgetary controls, better record keeping and monitoring of accounts.

The fund has been frozen until the overhaul is complete and officials say the jeweler will get his money.
