Man get 35 years in Port Arthur woman's murder

05:00 PM CDT on Monday, August 18, 2008

Associated Press

BEAUMONT, Texas - A man who pleaded guilty to killing a Port Arthur woman, whose remains were burned, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

A judge in Beaumont on Monday sentenced 46-year-old Carl James Williams.

Williams in July pleaded guilty to murder in the death of 41-year-old Hope Willey. Investigators say the victim had been stabbed and her remains were dumped and torched.

Willey's body was discovered near a road as Port Arthur firefighters answered a call about a grass fire.
