Mavericks guard Josh Howard was arrested in Winston-Salem, N.C. Thursday night for driving almost 100 mph in a 55 mph zone, police said.

A police officer was looking out for speeders on southbound US 421, when he saw two vehicles traveling at a high speed.

The vehicles involved were a black Lexus and silver Volkswagen. The officer stopped the Lexus - the driver was identified as Howard.

Howard was placed under arrest and transported to the Forsyth County Magistrates office.

He has been charged with speeding, careless and reckless driving and speed competition.
