RICHARDSON - Firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out shortly before 5 p.m. Monday on the playground of Greenwood Hills Elementary in Richardson.

Part of the playground, which is located in the 800 block of Woodland Way, was consumed by the fire, which shot up massive flames and created black smoke that could be seen for miles.

While the fire came close to some nearby trees, firefighters were able to spray down the flames.

No one was hurt and no information has been given on what may have started the blaze.
