Transcript glitch means scholarship doubts for Trinity football star

Life's tough out on the football field and not always fair.
Just ask former Trinity High School standout James Bradshaw.
He's been working hard all summer to get ready for college ball and sweated off 30 pounds.
Now he says, "I'm not sure if I'm going to be eligible to play."
The 6-foot-3-inch, 250 pound tackle helped Trinity win a state title last season and earned himself a four-year full ride to Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
He remembers getting the scholarship offer in February.
"Excitement, pretty happy, good day," he recalls.
Then came a nasty surprise.
His grandmother, Carmaleta Bradshaw recalls, "His coaches called from Arkansas a couple weeks ago and said they'd been notified by the NCAA he was not eligible to play."
The NCAA found a glitch in Bradshaw's school transcript -- from eighth grade.
His Spanish "1" class was mistakenly listed as Spanish "B."
Bradshaw says the NCAA doesn't recognize Spanish "B" as an accredited course.
So Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district officials sent corrected transcripts, overnight, and another copy Wednesday, called the NCAA and mailed letters to explain.
But Carmaleta Bradshaw is worried.
"I've come to realize it may not be fixed and he may lose his scholarship," she says.
The NCAA told Bradshaw's grandmother the corrected transcript still hasn't arrived and still must be approved. The NCAA had not returned calls to News 8 Wednesday evening.
James Bradshaw didn't think it was serious at first, but he too is growing concerned.
"I thought it was just a little miscommunication," he says. "But it's getting bigger and bigger, more drug out over time."
And time is running out. James Bradshaw is due at training camp August 3.
"You could say I'm a little worried," he says matter-of-factly.
His grandmother says a little more.
"He's worked really hard and he hasn't done anything wrong," she says. "He's earned this scholarship."
