The USA Boxing Judicial Committee has declined to reinstate Duncanville boxer Luis Yanez to the U.S. Olympic team.

Yanez, 19, is now expected to file for independent arbitration. Team USA leaves for the Beijing Olympics in a little more than a week. The Games begin Aug. 8.

USA Boxing dismissed Yanez, a light flyweight (106 pounds), from the team after he missed mandatory trainings in June without permission. Yanez said he was tending to a family emergency.

The Judicial Committee heard Yanez's appeal — held via teleconference — on Friday.

"Based upon the information that was presented, testimony from four different witnesses, and a review of documents presented by both parties, the Judicial Committee saw no basis for overturning our initial decision," USA Boxing CEO Jim Millman said in a statement. "The terms and conditions of the Athlete Code of Conduct are very clear and Luis' choice to reject those responsibilities was strongly reinforced by the Committee."
