Man gets 35 years in stinky feet slaying

04:29 PM CDT on Tuesday, July 8, 2008

Associated Press

HOUSTON - An argument about stinky feet that led to the 2007 stabbing death of a man in Houston ended with his roommate going to prison over the killing.

he Harris County District Attorney's Office says 23-year-old William Antonio Serrano was sentenced Tuesday to 35 years in prison after pleading no contest to murder.

Officials say 21-year-old Noel Quintanilla-Vaquero last October complained that Serrano's feet had a foul odor.

Police believe Serrano, after the men allegedly had been drinking, responded to the insulting remark by grabbing a knife and stabbing Quintanilla-Vaquero several times.

Court documents indicate Serrano initially claimed self defense in the attack at an apartment where the pair lived.
