DALLAS — A North Texas woman says she was repulsed by what she found at the bottom of a bag of movie popcorn. A live mouse. She said the movie theatre has been slow to fix the situation.

It might be okay to see an animated rat in a Hollywood movie. It's not okay to see a living mouse at the bottom of a bag of popcorn. That's what an Irving woman says happened to her.

"I ate half the bag. At least half the bag,” said Judy. "It was like a mouse scratching on paper. I'm sure many people have heard that. You just hear it. You know something's in there."

Judy asked us not to show her face. She says she doesn't want people to know what happened to her at the AMC Grand in Dallas last Wednesday.

"I just looked inside the bag, and there was this tiny little mouse. Very small, inside the bag looking at me. And then he started scratching on the side, like he wanted to get out," said Judy.

Judy didn't let him out. Instead she shut the bag and showed the rodent to a manager. "He apologized several times," said Judy.

In a statement to News 8, AMC expressed regret and said it is investigating.

The theatre has a history of favorable ratings with the health department, but said it is ramping up its pest maintenance program at the theatre.

But Judy's still got a bad taste in her mouth. Particularly, she says, because the manager only offered two free tickets as compensation. She says AMC can fix this by making a donation to charity.

"If it had been a hair in my popcorn, I can see getting free passes. This was a mouse in my popcorn,” said Judy.
