DALLAS — There was concern Friday among those who live near or visit the popular Greenville Avenue restaurant district after a two brazen robberies just after midnight.

In the separate incidents, a 17-year-old girl and a 26-year-old woman were attacked by a group of young men wielding a baseball bat.

Police said the 17-year-old was struck in the face by assailants in the 2600 block of Greenville and fell to the ground. The victim told police one of the suspects got on top of her and said, "Empty your pockets and give me whatever you have."

The victim lost some teeth along with her purse, $20, and a cell phone.

In the other incident, two suspects approached the victim in the 3200 block of Greenville Avenue, saying, "Give me your s**t now!"

The woman was not hurt, but the two young men grabbed her purse and fled in a small, gold colored four-door sedan with a getaway driver who was waiting for them.

"I've never really had a fear of leaving work late here until incidents like this happened," said a waitress at one Greenville Avenue restaurant.

Merchants along Greenville are naturally concerned that news like this can only serve to give potential customers second thoughts about where they spend their evenings.

"It makes me not want to go out at night," said a woman who was patronizing one of the establishments at lunchtime Friday.

Police said they have no suspects in the overnight assaults.
