LUCAS - Three firefighters suffered minor burns Tuesday afternoon while battling a house fire in the Collin County town of Lucas, a fire official said.
About 45 firefighters from several jurisdictions responded to the 4 p.m. fire in the 1200 block of Bloom Street, northeast of Plano, said Lucas Assistant Chief Ed Fleming. The fire started in the attic of the two-story house and took about an hour to control, he said.
Parker firefighter Ray Mayer was taken to a McKinney hospital in good condition, Chief Fleming said. Two Lucas firemen, Capt. David Leonard and Lt. James Tellier, were treated at the scene for burns, he said.
Authorities suspect the fire was caused by a lightning strike earlier in the day. No one was home at the time of the fire. A dog was rescued from inside the house.
