Nearby Denton Municipal Airport reported sustained winds up to 66 mph. Other damage we've observed include trampolines tossed around like paper plates and some livestock pens that have been toppled.

7:34 am Dallas County missed the brunt of severe storms that dumped softball-sized hail in parts of North Texas as it swept through early Friday morning. "Much of North Texas is waking up to leaves on the ground" and other storm-related damage, said Steve Fano, a National Weather Service meterologist. In Decatur and Wise counties, early morning storms dumped four-inch hail. Parts of Denton and Collin counties saw hail almost two-inches in diameter. "Softball sized-hail: It's a big deal," Fano said. A knocked-down tree landed on cars and a home in Denton County. The hail brought with it heavy rains and lightning strikes, but no reports of major flooding or fire. Most of the Dallas-Fort Worth area saw about an inch or less of rain, the weather service said. The storms also brought strong winds, but no tornadoes. A wind gust of 60 mph was reported about 9:30 p.m. Thursday in Paris, Fano said.

2:38am We just got to the Delaney home in Denton where the owner earlier reported heavy damage. The storm hit here at about 1:25 a.m. It's pretty dark, but when you start looking around the house, you can see strong winds definitely created plenty of damage here. Part of the house's roof is in the front yard. They have several downed trees. When you go to the back of the house, the wind was so strong, it actually moved a smoker; and this is a metal smoker. A trampoline they had in the back of the house moved from a pasture to their pool. The owner said the damage happened in less than five minutes.
