DALLAS — A series of vehicles were deliberately set on fire Wednesday night and Dallas police were searching for the arsonists who are responsible.

The first fire was reported around 8 p.m., police said, and fires were reported at seven locations in Oak Cliff, stretching from Idaho and Illinois avenues to Cripple Creek Drive.

Police arrived at the crime scenes in time to find the smoking remains of the cars. Witnesses said the scenes looked to be straight out of the movies.

One frustrated victim, Carlton Johnson, had words for the criminals. "I hope you're satisfied. You really don't know the kind of inconvenience you put the victims to," he said.

Johnson said he was looking forward to the capture of the arsonists who set his car on fire. The man said the burned vehicle was a replacement for another car that had been totaled in a wreck just last year.

Police were searching for suspects and trying to determine a motive for the attacks early Thursday.
