PLANO - Several Plano high school students have found themselves in the middle of a criminal investigation.
Federal agents said a fake identification ring involves dozens of Plano West Senior High School students. Secret Service agents walked up and down the high school hallways looking for answers, and checking identification.
Agents said the IDs look so real that it's hard to pinpoint which part is fake, and several dozen students at the school have allegedly bought and used them.
It all began after federal agents confiscated one suspected fake ID maker's computer. The agents said they found a list of names on the computer that led them to Plano West Senior High School.
Many of the students allegedly used their actual names so it would match their credit cards when buying alcohol.
Agents said they have four suspects so far, none of which are students. They also said the bust is just the start of something bigger and more serious, like identity theft.
For now, federal agents are encouraging people with fake IDs to turn them in. They said they have gotten several by mail from students at the school.
For now, there will be no punishment.
