FORT WORTH - A mother and father have filed a lawsuit after they said their despair over the loss of their newborn baby was compounded after the body was allegedly tossed out with the laundry.

Back in July of last year, the mother gave birth prematurely and the baby boy died. In the parents' lawsuit, the couple claimed after the baby died and was sent to Huguley Memorial Medical Center's morgue, the body was then sent out with the laundry to their commercial cleaners.

The hospital denies the allegations, but the family's lawyer, John David Hart, said the suit is accurate.

"I'm shocked that they would say that because this young couple learned what happened to the baby's body because hospital representatives came to their home and told them that they had lost the body," Hart said. "And that what had happened was the body had been sent to a commercial cleaners and was found crushed under loads of laundry. So, I am just shocked the hospital would deny it after admitting it to the family."

An attorney representing the hospital and hospital officials said they empathize with the parents loss, but they strongly deny the allegations in the lawsuit and will fight them in court.
